Barranco del Infierno (Hell's Ravine)
Hell's Ravine or Hell's Valley (Barranco del Infierno) in Adeje is a special nature reserve with an area of 1843 hectares, This deep, winding gorge with its high walls and challenging peaks, is the result of water carving the rock over seven million years.
This process of water erosion is still taking place in the Barranco del Infierno today so who knows what geological wonders await trekkers of the future?
Starting at 350m above sea level the trail begins on a natural balcony with magnificent views of the landscape, always with the town of Adeje at the bottom. Here there are a wide variety of both plant and animal species, some endemic to the island of Tenerife, including unique species found only in this valley - their last refuge!
